For the past 18 years we have been operating big game fresh water fishing safaris targeting one of the world’s largest fresh water fish the legendary Nile perch.

The Aswan High Dam was built in the 1960's and the resulting Lake Nasser flooded over 5,250 km2 of the Nile Valley, creating one of the largest manmade lakes in the world; it is hard to comprehend how big Lake Nasser really is, an example comes to mind. The flying distance between London Heathrow airport and Cairo airport in Egypt is 3,511km – the shoreline of Lake Nasser is 7,844km twice that distance – a big fishing area to say the least!

The fish populations of the original Nile River system were presented with a huge lake to live in and have thrived in their new habitat, especially the Tilapia and their predators, Nile perch, Tiger fish and big catfish.

“Another interesting experience is shore fishing… Where else, for instance, can you work artificial lures from the shore anywhere in the world, either in fresh or salt water, and encounter fish in the 20lb to 100lb category. Nasser is quite unique in this kind of experience, believe me!”

John Wilson MBE England’s best known angling writer and TV personality

Boat safaris are similar to the traditional African style of safari where overland vehicles are used for game viewing while large support trucks carrying the equipment and staff, go on ahead to set up luxury camps. Our fishing safaris are similar except we use boats instead of vehicles.

Boat safari units are made up of live aboard boats skippered by experienced English speaking Nubian fishing guides. The live aboard boats are supported by a mother ship which is manned by a safari crew who will do their best to insure you enjoy your safari. The mother ships have a built in kitchen, dining and recreation areas, toilets and showers providing you with all the requirements for a comfortable camp.

Most anglers who visit Lake Nasser for the first time have an excellent chance of catching the largest fresh water fish of their life and have an angling adventure they will never forget. For detailed information about all the aspects of fishing on Lake Nasser please refer to the following guides which you will find in the navigation panels:-

FISHING SAFARI UNITS

Fishing safari units are made up of live aboard fishing boats supported by a Mother Ship. You spend the day fishing and exploring the lake in your fishing boat and then link up with the mother ship for meals and overnight stops. Each fishing boat is skippered by experienced English speaking Nubian fishing guides; most of our guides have been escorting safaris on Lake Nasser for twelve years or more. Refer to page About African Angler

Mother Ships are an essential part of a well-organized safari unit; they carry the equipment, provisions, fuel and the safari staff leaving the live aboard boats free to do what they are designed for – catch fish. Mother ships are fitted with a built-in kitchen, dining area, toilet, and shower and there is plenty of space on the upper deck to relax sunbathe or just watch the world go by. Most people are pleasantly surprised at the standard of food on safari; the style of cooking is a blend of western taste merged with Nubian cuisine, which is superb.  With approximately one member of staff per person, there is little to do except relax and enjoy your holiday.  Each of our mother ships is equipped with a satellite telephone which can be used if required.

Fishing Boats can accommodate up to three anglers. Fishing boats are divided into two sections, cabin and living area and then the fishing decks. They have on board sleeping facilities with two full-sized single bunks and at night the cabin can be enclosed by canvas, providing a cosy sheltered sleeping.
The bow deck and stern decks provide ideal casting or trolling platforms and there is also an all-round deck in case a quick manoeuvre is needed when that big fish takes a dive under the boat. They are fitted with long-range fuel tanks, a 12v lighting system, a fish-finder, scales up to 220lb. and plenty of storage space for your equipment. Unlike the house boats the fishing boats do not have an on board toilet and shower, these facilities are provided for on the Mother Ship.

House & Fishing Boat Combo:           House Boats are bigger than the fishing boats with two spacious cabins which sleep four people comfortably. They are fitted with a toilet, shower and a small galley. The sun deck is a comfortable shaded area which is ideal for relaxing and sightseeing. They are twelve meters long, powered by two 85hp outboard engines with long-range fuel tanks and the electricity supply is provided by an on board generator.
House boats are not designed for fishing; you live comfortably aboard a house boat and use your second boat for fishing, this second boat can be either a standard fishing boat or a stealth boat. Having two boats is the ideal way to include your family on a fishing holiday, while they explore the lake in the comfortable house boat, you can go fishing in the smaller boat. This combo also works well for small groups of friends; the more of you who share a house boat the less expensive the safari becomes.

Four sharing one Fishing Boat: If you don’t mind being a bit crowded with your accommodation this system is the most cost effective and is also a great fishing arrangement. Because of the method of trolling on the lake, it is difficult for four anglers to troll effectively from one fishing boat without serious line tangles. When four anglers share a fishing boat we also include a Stealth Boatwith its own fishing guide as the second fishing platform; two anglers fishing from each boat is the ideal fishing combination!

Stealth Boats can fish hot spots more quietly and efficiently than is possible from our larger fishing boats. Whilst our bigger boats are also excellent fishing platform a stealth boat has the advantage of being smaller and less obtrusive. They can be quietly drifted or rowed over underwater promontories or past rocky drop-offs, allowing anglers to cast lures, or wobble dead bait without the commotion caused by a bigger boat.  Stealth boats carry two anglers and are skippered by an experienced fishing guide and can easily be towed between fishing grounds.

“The kind of hospitality shown by Tim and his guides is seldom seen these days and the atmosphere was incredibly friendly ".

Steve Pitts.

"What happened next will stay with me to the end of my life. One second the lure was wobbling quietly towards me, perhaps 25 yards away. The next it was hit with unbelievable power...."
