Nabil Abd El Moete MD EgyptIn 1993 Tim Baily founded the African Angler and had the privilege of being the first to pioneer boat safaris on Lake Nasser. The company is registered in Australia and is a family business owned and managed by Tim and his brother Peter Baily. Both were born and raised in Kenya, and have been involved in the safari business for most of their lives which has brought the atmosphere of traditional African style safaris to Lake Nasser.
For the past 18 years we have been operating sport fishing safaris targeting and releasing one of the biggest fresh water fish in the world - the legendary Nile perch. Over the years the African Angler has become a household name throughout the angling world for its first class safaris; using the experience gained by our safari teams and guides, we have also introduced ecology related holidays to this picturesque desert lake. Our fishing safaris are ‘second to none’ and most anglers who visit Lake Nasser for the first time will catch the largest fresh water fish of their life and have an angling adventure they will never forget.
Peter Baily manages the office in Sydney Australia whilst Tim Baily with our Egyptian partner Nabil Abd El Moete runs the Aswan office and the safari operations. Our Nubian Safari Crews are also highly experienced most of our key staff and guides have been with the African Angler for over 10 years.
The African Angler is the leading authority on all types of specialized tourism to southern Egypt from Aswan, Lake Nasser to Abu Simbel. Also, with 18 years experience working in Egypt, we also have an intimate knowledge of mainland Egypt and are experts at tailor making holidays for individuals and small groups.

One of the most important requirements for a successful safari is the crew; we take this seriously and devote time and effort into selecting and training our team although most of them have been with us for ten years or more.The African Angler has a total of 28 safari staff; the pictures below are of just some of the key members of our team who all help to make our boat safaris the success they are.
Our crews and guides are all Nubians who are the people who inhabited the Nile Valley before it was flooded by Lake Nasser. The Nubian people have a proud and rich heritage that dates back long before the Pharaohs were in control of ancient Egypt. To this day, Nubians still maintain their own distinct traditions, architecture, and their own language, even though they had to migrate into Egypt or south to the Sudan after Lake Nasser swamped much of their traditional homeland. There is an excellent ‘esprit de corps’ amongst our Nubian staff, they are proud of the work they do and you can’t beat them for their spontaneous and genuine friendship.
